Red Blend is a classic blend from the Douro with Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca.
This wine expresses the steep Douro terraces in Cima Corgo. It brings with it the influence of the Douro and Távora rivers.
It comes from old vineyards 350 meters high and dominated by schist soil. A soil that much characterizes the oldest controlled denomination of origin in the world: the Vale do Douro.
It presents an intense Ruby.
The wine shows intense primary aromas of red fruits like cherry and black fruits like blackberries and plums. It also has floral touches like orange blossom and spices like ground white pepper.
The wine is intense in the mouth, confirming the sensation of the nose. Acidity is well balanced With the fruitiness it has a refreshing mouth feeling. The combination of primary fruits with excellent acidity bring a balanced, fresh and pleasant wine. An unctuous wine with a long finish.
A wine that can be drunk alone or accompanied with food, harmonizes very well with Roasted Mushrooms, Red Meats and Cod with Cream or Backed Cod.
The grape's origins are vineyards in the Cima Corgo do Douro.
They are located on terraces on the slopes of the Douro and Távora rivers.
Production is around 6 tons per hectare. This small harvest guarantees the quality of the grapes that were born there.
The schist soils give a structured minerality and acidity, with firm tannins but elegant.
In 2015, the vineyard has an average of 25 years.
The grapes were handpicked with a thorough selection to ensure quality end result.
O vinho foi fermentado com leveduras selecionadas, para garantir o estilo mais frutado do vinho. Fermentation took place in stainless steel vats at low temperatures to preserve the aromas and flavors of this batch.
It aged in stainless steel for 6 months until bottling.
Our labels are produced in partnership between Lívia Novais and the artist Wendel Reis. Together they seek to read the message from the inside of the bottle to the outside.
On the Red Blend label, inspiration came from scenes from ancient Portuguese viticulture.
“The first thing that came to mind for this label was to show what touches me most about viticulture in countries with as much history as Portugal. Then came the scene of transporting the barrels with the ox cart. Show how the couple works together in the production of wine … Yes, it could be our old version, mine and Jorge Gonçalves’? [risadas] Why not? After all, that’s what it’s all about: making wines and loving this land! ” Livia Novais
